Staying Consistent

Good morning readers,

This past week, I turned 35 for the first time ever… But in all seriousness, it was quite an experience, with all 10 of my kids crafting homemade presents for me to admire! They made cards wishing me a happy birthday, wrote me funny stories, and even created paper plate masks with cool designs like lions and a playful rendition of their dad. It's truly a unique feeling to have so many people looking up to you as if you're some kind of hero. I attribute their admiration to my consistent presence in their lives. I'm there when they wake up every morning, I join them for nearly every meal, and I'm there when they go to bed each night. I'm there for every milestone, fall, achievement, and boo-boo. I'm consistently present. And the first section of this week's newsletter will mainly focus on this theme: consistency.

“I've learned from experience that if you work harder at it, and apply more energy and time to it, and more consistency, you get a better result. It comes from the work.”

Louis C. K.

Consistency.

I believe we can all agree that success in most life endeavors requires certain key elements: time, knowledge, and, yes, consistency. This particularly resonates with me as I've struggled with inconsistency in many aspects of my life lately, including physical exercise. Despite starting my bodybuilding journey in the fall of 2018, it has been marred by inconsistency. While I've seen results, maintaining consistency throughout would undoubtedly have significantly impacted my current position. If you've ever followed a workout regimen, you might find yourself chastising your inconsistency, especially as winter draws to a close, realizing you should be in better shape by now! You might have missed the opportunity for that summer body you desired this season, but fear not, there's always next year! To ensure we don't perpetuate inconsistency in all the wrong areas, I've compiled a list that isn't limited to physical training. It's adaptable to whatever you aspire to succeed in, and given the right motivation, it should be fairly simplistic to follow.

  1. Set realistic goals: Establish achievable fitness goals that align with your lifestyle and schedule. This will help you stay motivated and focused on your progress.

  2. Create a schedule: Set aside specific times for your workouts each week and treat them like appointments that cannot be missed.

  3. Find enjoyable activities: Choose exercises and activities that you genuinely enjoy, whether it's swimming, cycling, yoga, or dancing. When you have fun while working out, you're more likely to stick with it.

  4. Mix it up: Keep your workouts interesting by varying the types of exercises you do and the environments in which you do them. This can prevent boredom and plateaus in your fitness routine.

  5. Find a workout buddy: Partnering up with a friend or joining a fitness group can provide accountability and motivation to stick to your workouts.

  6. Track your progress: Keep a workout journal or use a fitness app to track your progress over time. Seeing improvements in strength, endurance, or flexibility can be incredibly motivating.

As you pushback against aging, gravity, and muscle loss, keep these simple steps in mind to achieve success! As for me, on my journey to bodybuilding, I will resume training five days a week, with each session lasting 30 minutes to an hour.

If you would like a copy of my workout regimen, leave a comment below and I will send it to your email address.

Exciting Weekend Update!

This weekend, my family of 12 is looking heading to New York! My wife received an invitation to TikTok headquarters to meet with the Leadership Team and share her experiences as a creator. While in the city, we plan to visit iconic landmarks like the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building. It'll be thrilling for the kids to see these famous sites up close, having previously only read about them in books or magazines. And let's not forget about the ByteDance building in Times Square! I've watched videos showcasing its interior, and it truly seems like a child's paradise. I could attempt to describe it, but perhaps it's better if you watch our video tour! While we're incredibly excited about the trip, we're also prepared for the possibility of it not happening. Imagine the excitement if my next newsletter is written from the heart of New York City! Stay tuned for updates!

That wraps up this newsletter! Wishing you all a fantastic week ahead!
